Russell had been working on this book all his life and was lovingly put together by the compilers after the great researcher´s death. It contains a detailed page chapter on Ory with two photos, one with his daughter Babette as a child.

Joe Darensbourg worked and recorded as a member of Kid Ory´s Creole Jazz band for a number of years. He was a great story teller and this book is full of reminiscences from those times.

Barney Bigard must take the credit for being the first person to assist Ory´s rediscovery. First he helped Ory to claim 8000 $ owed to him by the music publishers for his compositions. Then, in 1942, featured ory as a guest with his own band at many Los Angeles clubs, helping Ory to get the recognition he deserved.
